Resolve's second tabletop game, our follow-up to Project AUDE, will be a board game about the history of geology and palaeontology!

Step into the Maritime Provinces in the 19th Century, and become a founding member of the Steinhammer Club. Play as ambitious young citizen-scientists, curious to unravel the remarkable secrets hidden beneath the stony hills and jagged coastlines, and help to pioneer geosciences in Canada.

Project Milestones

On February 7th, Dr. Preston and Katie attended the Atlantic Geoscience Colloquium in Truro, NS to present on "Steinhammer: Dawn of Geoscience on Canada’s Atlantic Coast."

Discussing the trials and tribulations of designing a game for geoscience outreach, Resolve had the opportunity to discuss the game with many geoscientists from across Atlantic Canada.

On Friday, Dr. Preston and Katie made the trip up to the conference to set the game up, inviting attendees of various geoscience backgrounds to take a look at the game and share the overall goals for the project.

The next morning on Saturday, Resolve partook in the Educational Outreach session to present the design process for Steinhammer, and explore how game design can be used to create an accessible entry point into learning more about geology, paleontology and local Maritime history.

The experience was inspiring, informative, and was a great starting point in introducing Steinhammer to the geoscience community!
