Scott Preston

Dr. Scott Preston studies applied game design, games-based learning, and the history of games and popular culture. He is particularly interested in exploring how developments in modern tabletop game design can be used to create games for change. Scott conceptualized Resolve in the summer of 2021 while working on his first applied game design project, Campus Paths. Four different students had participated in various capacities during the first year of that project, and he envisioned creating on-going opportunities for students by establishing a permanent research group. At Resolve, students study, play, and design games in collaboration with Dr. Preston, while developing important career competencies such as problem-solving, teamwork, collaboration, and professionalism.
